Wilcombe Wobbler

18th May 2022
On Wednesday afternoon a selection of KS2 children represented the school in the annual cross-country race called 'The Wilcombe Wobbler'. The course covers most of Wilcombe Primary School's ground plus some of the well-marshalled streets and canal surrounding the school. There were 12 school participating with Y3/4 races followed by Y5/6 so around 50 runners in total. Yet again, Zoe set the early pace for the Y3/4 girls by finishing in 4th closely followed by Ruby in 6th! In the boy's race James F came in for Sampford with Henry a little way behind. In the Y5/6 girl's race our runners battled hard and persevered to finish the race as the older children ahd to run the course 3 times compared to the 2 laps run by the Y3/4s. Eva finished strongly to come in as the first Sampford runner. In the Y5/6 boy's race we had Hugo, Felix and Oscar G all finish in and around the top ten runners - a great team showing.
We do not receive official results but we definitely finished in the top half of schools overall with some of the year group teams finishing near the top. All the children showed a great team spirit - cheering on their team mates from the side.
