Remembrance Service

7th November 2025

On Friday, the school was joined by the church community alongside Keith Astbury and The Royal British Legion for the Remembrance Church Service.

We feel so lucky to have Reverend Rachel and her team run these special services for our school, and we were thankful for all the adults who also attended the service.
The children sang a remembrance song and the National Anthem and beautifully observed the silence after the Last Post was played. The British Legion also laid their wreaths and lowered the standard, and Keith told us about the history and meaning of the Poppy Appeal.

Children from Ash and Beech Class both read a selection of moving poems based on their knowledge of World War II, which had been the focus of the week in school.

Each child in Ash prepared a commemorative cross, which they placed at the altar whilst Keith read out each name of the known fallen soldiers from both World Wars. After the service, these crosses were laid in the remembrance garden outside the church.
