Platinum Jubilee

26th May 2022
The children of Sampford Peverell CofE Primary School celebrated The Queen's Platinum Jubilee with a number of events and activities across the week and especially on the Thursday.

The whole school dressed in red, white and blue - or as royalty - and children who attend our breakfast club created bunting to decorate the school site. The whole school also came together a had a special Jubilee Lunch prepared by or amazing cook, Mrs Locke.
Children in each class drew/painted/printed a portrait of Her Majesty which were then displayed to visiting adults at the end of the day in a parade around the playground. Each class also made a large collaborative piece to go on display at the end of the day - with some fantastic results! Special mention to Eva who painted a fabulous portrait of the Queen on a large canvas which will now be placed in the school building to commemorate this day. During this time, the play leaders presented some playground songs and games that they had learnt with Mrs Wakefield as well as singing a special 'Jubilee Calypso' and 'The National Anthem'.
At the end of the day there was also a cake sales with cakes provided by the school community - including some scones baked fresh that day from Ash Class. The money raised from the sale - over £200 - went to the Sarcoma charity.
Many thanks to Miss Keary for organising the day and to all the adults who helped make this such a special day.
