RHS Rosemoor

3rd July 2025
Oak and Cedar embarked on quite the adventure to RHS Rosemoor today. When we arrived, we were greeted by our host Nicky who led us through the beautiful gardens to our learning space (which shared a name with one of the pupils). After a quick snack, we began our Fantastic Food workshop. We gathered around the potting benches and planted our radish seeds. We learnt that the radish that is eaten is actually the root of the vegetable.

Next, we found out more about which foods come from plants and It turned out an awful lot more of our food has plants in than we'd realised, including biscuits and crisps! We then looked at which parts of the plant different foods come from and were quick to identify those that were flowers, roots and fruits. After that, we walked through the formal gardens (using our senses to experience it all fully) all the way up to the walled garden where we took part in a scavenger hunt for lots of different fruits and vegetables. Some groups were lucky enough to see a huge yellow dragonfly! Then it was time to head back for lunch so we took a different route through more garden 'rooms' to see what else we could find and spotted flowers in all the colours of the rainbow.

Wonderful weather, spectacular site and lots of learning - a fabulous day all round!
