Sports Week

Sports Week

Sports week saw children participate in some additional sports this term - delivered by different members of staff. Children got the opportunity to do yoga and play hockey, basketball, dodgeball and badminton. The children also explored the large wall bars in the hall in a gym session.

We were also extremely lucky to have a five-time Olympian as a parent at school - a MASSIVE thank you to Chris Maddocks who came in to deliver a talk to KS1 and KS2 children about his career as a competitive walker and his work in sports journalism. The talk really inspired the children and they were able to talk about it brilliantly to others and hopefully be inspired to look into a career in sport - or even become an Olympian themselves!

16 children also took part in a cricket festival which involved 10 teams across the local area. The event was brilliantly organised by DPH Coaching Camps and it saw 8 Y3/4s take part in their very first cricket matches. They performed brilliantly - showing great progress throughout the day - and finished 2nd!

This feat was matched by the Y5/6 team who only lost to a very strong Uffculme team. If any children are interested in pursuing cricket further, them we have a fantastic facility in our village with multiple teams playing there.
