Exmoor Challenge 2024

4th May 2024
On Saturday (May the 4th be with you) 12 Year 6 children took part in the gruelling and aptly named: Exmoor Challenge - a 16 mile trek across Exmoor. The children are given a map, compass and a set of instructions to be able to complete the challenge. For every minute they are late to a checkpoint, they receive 1 negative time point and if they are early, they are also given penalty points - teaching them to walk at the correct pace. In addition to this, the children are given a quiz to complete along the route.
Over the past few months, Mr Snow, Mr Curnow, Mrs Bedford and Miss Price have supported the children in their training to help put them in a strong position to complete the challenge.
This year all 12 children completed the challenge! But not just that: Sampford Peverell 3 (Team 96) completed the challenge with zero - ZERO time penalties and answered 7/16 questions correctly - giving them a score of 9 points. This meant that Sampford Peverell finished as the top Primary School in the event - winning the Seward Cup!
Many thanks to all the children (including those who completed the training) for all of their hard work and determination as well as the parents for coming along and supporting on the day.
