Welcome from Miss Hurford
May I extend a very warm welcome to our website.
Here at Samford Peverell C of E Primary School we value the talents of every individual. We nurture a strength of character in all our pupils. We provide a curriculum which is challenging, develops skills and builds learning power. This encourages an aspirational climate which enables all children to enjoy learning and achieve their potential; preparing them to live happy and fulfilled lives.
Our children have the benefits of a friendly, small school atmosphere while not being limited in any way. We strive to encourage a family feel across our whole school community. We aim for every pupil to leave the school healthy, confident and respectful individuals who will have experienced a growing range of responsibilities as they move through the school: Nurturing for success!
If you are interested in your child joining the school, there is no substitute for coming to visit us to feel the positive, calm, learning-focused atmosphere.
We hope that your association with the school is a long and happy one.
Miss Helen Hurford. Headteacher
Welcome from Ventrus, our academy trust
Sampford Peverell PrimarySchool, which became an academy in 2013, is a member of Ventrus formerly known as The Primary Academies Trust. The Primary Academies Trust changed its name to Ventrus in December 2016 to reflect the fact that the multi academy trust now includes an institution of secondary education as well as institutions of primary education.
Each of the schools has its own Head of School and these school leaders work closely together to ensure that we deliver a curriculum which meets the needs of all pupils and that opportunities for our pupils are broad and challenging. In addition there is an Executive Leadership team for the Trust as a whole, which comprises the CEO of the Trust, Mr Gary Chown, four Executive Headteachers, Head of HR and a Head of Finance. The Executive team oversees and supports school improvement for all eleven schools, at a local level Mrs Claire Baillie ensures that Sampford Peverell Primary School continues to provide an excellent level of education for our pupils.
Staff and governors of our school benefit hugely from working within a family of schools. The Trust operates ‘Best Practice Networks’ in a variety of subjects, aspects and phases within Primary Education. The opportunity to work in partnership to shape and develop one’s own practice, and the practice of others, has a profound effect on the quality of education that we are able to provide at Sampford Peverell Primary School.
For the children in the Trust schools, there are regular opportunities to work and play with children from all of the schools. Whether it be on a Gifted and Talented day for mathematicians, or a musical event or in the sporting arena, our pupils benefit from the expertise and enthusiasm of a large group of talented and skilled teachers and assistants.
