Science Week - Spring Term

During National Science Week the children have been experimenting all week and then writing explanations and instructions about the - as well as having a lot of fun! They have investigated: Density towers; Hydrometers - which measure the density of liquids; Chromatography - looking at separating colours; Water Walking - how absorbency can move water; Cabbage pH reading - investigating the acidity of a variety of liquids; and bubbling reactions - does the ratio of oil to water change the reaction?
Also, linking in with our V.I.P theme, the children have looked at the biographies of a number of scientist who have inspired others and changed our lives with their discoveries - from Sir Isaac Newton (famed father of physics) to Jane Goodall (a pioneer in the study of animals - in particular chimpanzees - as well as conservation and animal welfare).
